Pro-Life Republican Matt Bevin Defeats Pro-Abortion Candidate to Become Kentucky Governor

An interesting story from www.lifenews.com about last week's governor's race in Kentucky. This follows this post about the president going after Texas.  For two very interesting books click HERE.

The pro-life movement won a key election victory int he state of Kentucky last night, as pro-life candidate Matt Bevin won his race to become the next governor of the Bluegrass State.
Bevin is a strong advocate for life. He supports legal protection for unborn children, and he opposes the current policy of abortion on demand. Matt Bevin opposes using tax dollars to pay for abortion. Bevin’s strong pro-life position stands in sharp contrast with that of his pro-abortion opponent, Jack Conway. Jack Conway supports abortion, and supports using tax dollars to pay for abortion.
Margie Montgomery of Kentucky Right to Life told LifeNews she’s glad Bevin won.
“Kentucky Right to Life is overjoyed that our endorsed candidate, Matt Bevin, was elected Governor on Tuesday.  It will be a pleasure, after a dozen years, to begin passing pro-life legislation once more.  As a pro-life state, we look forward to lobbying during the next session of the Kentucky General Assembly in January, 2016.  God has blessed us and given us another opportunity to save babies and their mothers,’ she said.
Before the vote, National Right to Life endorsed Bevin.

“All voters who are concerned with the right to life and with the protection of the most vulnerable members of the human family should elect Matt Bevin as governor, so that he can work to advance vital pro-life public policies,” said Carol Tobias, National Right to Life president. “Kentucky’s mothers and their unborn children deserve someone who will give them a voice. They deserve Matt Bevin.”
In August, Bevin announced that he intends to defund Planned Parenthood if he wins the election. Bevin is the GOP’s nominee for governor and will be facing pro-abortion Jack Conway in the general election. Currently, Conway is the attorney general for Kentucky and the Democratic nominee.
In a press release, Bevin said, “As Governor, I will direct my Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services not to distribute federal taxpayer dollars from that department to Planned Parenthood clinics. Federal taxpayer dollars appropriated to Planned Parenthood flow through the Governor’s administration. As Governor, I will prevent those dollars from being distributed, and order them returned to the federal government.”
As LifeNews previously reported, in a letter to current Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear and Attorney General Jack Conway, 44 legislators requested that they open an investigation into Planned Parenthood’s abortion and organ harvesting practices.
The Kentucky Cabinet for Health & Family Services said they gave over $330,000 in taxpayer funding through local health departments to “Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky.” Unfortunately, it is unlikely that Gov. Beshear and Attorney General Conway will grant the legislators request because they are both pro-abortion.
